Hanoi, HCMC and Phu Quoc have made it onto the global list of 100 greatest places to explore on Earth as voted by Time magazine.
Time recommended travelers to explore Hanoi where they can enjoy a renewed life in the Old Quarter.

“Vietnam’s 1,000-year-old capital is embracing change while maintaining a strong sense of identity,” Time wrote.

The new Capella Hanoi on Le Phung Hieu Street in Hoan Kiem District, a 47-room hotel designed by world famous architect Bill Bensley, and Dolce by Wyndham Hanoi Golden Lake, a 25-floor hotel in Ba Dinh District, billed as the world’s first gold-plated hotel, add their charm to the vibrancy of Hanoi.

“Hanoi’s incredible street-food culture is another source of fierce civic pride,” Time noted.

The magazine suggested visitors try pho, the city’s signature dish, at Bat Dan Restaurant on the eponymous street, which has been serving this dish for more than 70 years. The restaurant offers both traditional and stir-fried pho, with prices ranging from VND45,000-75,000 ($2-3.27).

Time defined Ho Chi Minh City as “tastes of Vietnam” where a collection of famous restaurants converge.

Among them is Anan Restaurant, which became the first venue in the country’s southern hub to earn a berth in Asia’s 50 best restaurants in the 2021 annual ranking published by William Reed Business Media, a British business magazine and digital media company.

Located inside an old market on Ton That Dam Street in District 1 near Bitexco Financial Tower, Anan specializes in street food-inspired dishes created by Vietnamese-­American chef Peter Cuong Franklin.

“Notable recent additions to the local dining scene include Monkey Gallery, where chef Viet Hong merges Vietnamese, French and Japanese techniques and flavors, and Esta, a modern Asian eatery with an ever changing, expansive menu that runs the gamut from smoked-eel pate to veal sweetbreads,” according to Time.

The U.S. magazine called Phu Quoc island city an “idyllic paradise.”

Known as the “jewel of Vietnam,” Phu Quoc Island has become one of the fastest-growing destinations in Southeast Asia as it attracted five million visitors in 2019, a 30 percent increase from the year before.

The island is planning to welcome vaccinated foreign tourists back from this October.

It boasts luxury beach resorts and modern entertainment complexes by conglomerate Vingroup.

Time magazine said its third annual World’s Greatest Places list is “curated from editor and expert nominations from around the world” and that “the list recognizes 100 unique destinations that are offering visitors an extraordinary experience that’s unlike any other.”

Other Asian destinations in the Time list include Bangkok, Beijing, Malaysia’s Desaru Coast, Dubai, South Korea’s Gyeongju, Thailand’s Khao Yai National Park and Cambodia’s Siem Reap.

The list features 21 U.S. destinations while Europe is well-represented on the list as well, accounting for 28.

春菜表示，在去過越南的遊客中，對越南的“美食”和“美麗風景”感到滿意的人數比例為46.4%，而對“歷史遺跡”感到滿意的人數比例為38.2%。

關於選擇越南作為目的地的理由，春菜表示，20.3% 的受訪者表示他們“在朋友和親戚的推薦下”來到越南，另有20.3% 的受訪者選擇越南是因為“旅行費用低廉” ，18.1% 的受訪者在瀏覽博客和評論網站後決定前往越南旅遊，15.7% 的受訪者是因為工作，15.1% 的受訪者是因為閱讀書籍、報紙和13.5% 的受訪者是在看電視或電影后決定去越南旅遊，10.7%的受訪者是在查看社交網絡信息後決定和8%的受訪者是由旅行社推薦。

關於對越南的印象，春菜表示，給受訪者印象最深的兩個因素是“美食”（佔28.4%）和“歷史古蹟”（佔26.2%）。

The West Lake

West Lake is regarded as the most beautiful place during the sunset by many people. Covering about 500 hectares of the water surface, the largest natural lake of Hanoi provides many corners around it to enjoy the huge orange sun gradually going down every late afternoon, dyeing the lake with its sparkling golden light.

The sky “wears” different clothes whose colors change by the minute, sometimes red and other times pink or multi-color, making the lake so romantic with the silhouettes of young couples pedaling swan boats on the lake. Historical Long Bien Bridge

When the last light of the day shines on the old rusty bridge, it emboldens the ancientness of the bridge on the Red River. Iconic Hoan Kiem Lake

Located in the city center, it is obviously the best venue for watching the sunset in the capital city. Smaller than West Lake and surrounded by colonial houses and buildings, it is different for the sunset here when the light goes through the gap between houses to reflect on the lake. The light is even more magical when it passes through the canopy of many enormous ancient trees around the lake.

At about 20 minute drive from the center of Hanoi, the foot of Vinh Tuy Bridge is a new point to watch the sunset on hot summer days. Thanks to the large area of green grass and cool breeze from Red River, in recent years, it has become an ideal site for families and friends to go camping, make BBQ parties, and enjoy the nice sunset together.

“我在島上長大，見證這裡10年來的巨大變化，但富國島仍然保留著它的自然美景”，文章還引用了目前在島上工作的當地人安娜阮的話。Klook客路平台，肯定地說：“您可以像我一樣在這裡度過你的餘生，仍然會發現這個島嶼還有很多值得探索的地方”。

Xiu Cafe

This cafe attracts young Hanoians thanks to its Japanese style. Right from the first step into the shop, visitors will be impressed by a small garden paved with stones and lots of green trees.

The space inside was renovated from the first floor of the old apartment building. Simple wooden tables and chairs are not suitable for working but the cafe is a perfect place to chat with friends. It is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

The menu includes Vietnamese coffee, Italian coffee, yogurt and tea that cost from VND29,000-65,000 ($1.74-2.82).

Cu Xa cafe

Cu Xa Cafe takes its name from the now largely forgotten word for subsidy period apartment blocks, better known as khu tap the. Situated on the second floor of the Khuong Thuong apartment block built in the 1970s to house the families of government clerks, the cafe is a popular address for Hanoians seeking to rekindle childhood memories.

Inside, the cafe feels as if it has two different styles. To the left, there are bright yellow walls, tiled floors and some strategically-placed clutter. To the right, there is a balcony made of plain, gray concrete, with colorful lanterns hanging from the ceiling and walls lined with green plants.

The cafe overlooks busy Ton That Tung Street and a large school, so it can on occasion resound with the noise of motorbike horns or chattering teenagers.

The menu includes coffee, tea, instant noodles, jellies, gummy bears, candy and chips with prices from VND20,000-35,000.

Cu Xa Cafe is open from 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Brik

Nestled in a small apartment block in Nui Truc Alley of Ba Dinh District, Brik is a coffee shop specializing in craft brewing. The small interior creates a cozy atmosphere for guests with decorative tones of mainly light brown and white. Because it is located on the first floor near the stairs to the dormitory, guests can park their motorbikes right next to the shop and enjoy coffee while watching the quiet surroundings.

The menu features mainly hand-made and machine-brewed coffee besides teas, juices and cocoa with prices from VND35,000 to 80,000. The cafe is open from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Zum

Zum is located on the first floor of an old apartment block in a small alley in Dong Da District. To the left of the entrance is a counter walled by old wooden shutters. It also carries subsidy era artifacts like the television set.

Many decorations in the cafe are a throwback including peacock blanket covers, black and white TV, radio, and desk fans. Some of the indispensable subsidy period artifacts like a Vietnamese soldier’s hat, a conical hat, a water canteen, and a phonograph are also part of the decor.

Besides the usual beverages of tea, coffee, smoothies and juices, the cafe serves some unique dishes including Thi No porridge, Mrs. Dau’s and Ba Kien rice, named after major characters in famous, old short stories.
A cup of coffee costs VND25,000. The shop opens 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily.

Loading T

Occupying the second floor of an old French-built apartment at 8 Chan Cam Street in Hoan Kiem District, Loading T is a not-to-be-missed address featured on CNN in 2017. At first glance, the facade does not stand out, and is easy to miss, but once you climb the mossy stairs and enter, you will discover a completely different space.

The cafe is adorned with period features, including patterned floor tiles, exposed original brickwork, and towering window shutters that allow light to stream in on a sunny day. Loading T was set up by Hoang Tuan Son and his wife Nguyen Hong Trang in 2014.

The menu includes egg coffee, tea, smoothies and cakes that cost from VND20,000 to VND45,000.

A top gear motorbike tour from Hue to Hoi An and a Saigon street food tour have been named among the world’s 25 best travel experiences by Tripadvisor readers.

The top gear motorbike tour from Hue to Hoi An ranked ninth while the private street food tour by motorbike in Ho Chi Minh City came in 14th on the list of 25 best travel experiences, according to Tripadvisor’s 2021 Travelers’ Choice of the Best Things to Do.

The selection comes from more than 400,000 bookable activities on its website and is curated by a combination of user ratings and reviews.

The eight-hour motorbike tour from former imperial capital Hue to the ancient town of Hoi An costs $74.77 per person and allows visitors to explore famous tourist attractions in central Vietnam like Lang Co Beach, Hai Van Pass, Da Nang, the Marble Mountains and Hoi An itself.

“Amazing from start to finish! So friendly, great fun. The views were epic! Such good value! It’s a must if you’re in Vietnam,” a Tripadvisor reader said.

Organized by HCMC-based tour operator Saigon Back Alley Tours, the food tour by motorbike would take visitors around four hours to delve into the street food scene in Vietnam’s southern metropolis. The tour costs from $40 per adult, including beverages, food tasting, dinner, snacks and hotel pickup and drop-off.

對越南而言，旅遊公司多年來早已開發這類旅遊產品，並取得了初步且積極的成果。開拓會展旅遊市場是越南旅遊業發展戰略的目標之一。

（人民報）越南文化、體育與旅遊部於2021年5月底已承認堅江省富國島魚露製作業是國家級非物質文化遺產，為富國島魚露製作戶繼續維護和弘揚傳統業的精華精髓注入新動力。

富國魚露協會主席胡金蓮女士表示，越南富國島海域有多種海藻，浮游生物，其是製作魚露主要原料的鳳尾魚的主要食物來源。200多年前，富國島就有了魚露製作業。當時，島上漁民將大量食鹽撒上剛剛從海裡捕撈上船的新鮮鳳尾魚，之後攪拌均勻並放到大缸裡讓其發酵已醃製魚露。將鳳尾魚放入木桶醃製魚露是富國傳統魚露製作業的特徵之一。潺槁木姜子是一種富國森林中繁多，用於製作魚露桶的木材。木桶放的越久，木頭越結實，魚露的質量就越好。

胡金蓮女士表示，傳統魚露手工製作方式是按3∶1的比例，即三分鳳尾魚和一份食鹽，將魚材料與鹽攪拌，然後放入大罐中，讓其發酵10-15個月後就開始過濾積存魚汁。魚露的製作方法比較複雜，要經過鹽醃、發酵、成熟、抽濾和配製等五道環節。魚露的質量是根據其蛋白質含量和味道來評估的，蛋白質含量越高，其質量越好。

1998年，在法國駐越南大使館的支持下，越南水產總局與堅江省配合提出富國魚露地理標誌商標申請。2001年6月1日，富國魚露是越南首個獲准註冊的商品。2013年7月在比利時，歐盟向越南富國牌魚露授予“受保護的原產地名稱”認證書(PDO)。2013年8月，越南工貿部向富國島縣人民委員會和富國魚露協會授予上述認證書。這也是當地獨特且具有吸引力的旅遊產品之一。

目前，國島市有近100家魚露製作廠，集中於陽東坊和安泰坊。從現在至2025年，富國力爭每年生產約1200萬公升魚露。胡金蓮女士稱，目前富國魚露產業的難點在於部分消費者還沒有鑑別出正宗的富國傳統魚露，導致魚露價格不穩定；富國魚露工藝村並未規劃，所以不能成為遊客的觀光景點。

胡金蓮女士補充說，未來，富國魚露協會將注重發展魚露質量，維護品牌聲譽。在被列入國家級非物質文化遺產名錄後，富國魚露製作業繼續爭取聯合國教科文組織將其承認為世界非物質文化遺產，助力提升富國魚露品牌價值以及推廣富國島旅遊形象。（完）
